Estate Planning for Nontraditional Families, Part 1—OSB CLE Quick Call
Brought to you in partnership with Webcredenza, a professional education broadcast network

1 General CLE credit
Much of the law of estate planning is built on the assumption of married couples passing down property to children of those marriages. But with the growth of more nontraditional families—unmarried couples, including same-sex couples, and “blended families” with children from multiple marriages—traditional assumptions of estate planning start to break down. This program provides you with a real-world guide to adapting estate planning techniques to the needs of nontraditional families, including major health care planning issues, will substitutes and avoiding probate, transferring retirement funds, using premarital and domestic partnership agreements, and much more.
Day 1—August 10, 2010
- Planning for unmarried couples
- Techniques to reduce adverse tax consequences for unmarried couples
- Drafting domestic partnership agreements
- Use of revocable living trusts
- Will substitutes and planning techniques to avoid probate and ensure privacy
